Academics

(Back to the committee overview)

Committee Profile

Hi there! I’m Richard, I study Law, and I’m the Academic Rep for this year. What does the academic rep do, I hear you ask? Essentially, I hope to operate as the first port of call for any academic concerns, whether you're having problems with tutors or that you want to change course. I also try and represent student views about academic stuff to the College Academic Committee and generally give feedback to college about how the JCR thinks things are like.

My main job, however, is to organise and run Academic Feedback Sessions. These are discussion sessions between myself and all the years of a particular subject group on topics such as your tutors, how tutorials work, feedback on your written work, how your faculty works and what it could do to improve, as well as get a sense of how your subject group feels about St Anne's provision of teaching in general. All of that then gets written up into an anonymous report and sent to the Senior Tutor, who will then pass it onto your tutors. The sessions are pretty informal, and aim to take place at a mutually convenient time - so please turn up if you can!

My email is below. Feel free to contact me with any problems you have - I check my emails regularly and will answer any questions you have no matter how silly you think they are (trust me, they’re probably not silly at all).
